The David Johnston Research + Technology Park sits on the University of Waterloo’s north campus. Its 120 acres hold more than 150 companies and over 4,000 knowledge workers, from global firms like OpenText, TextNow, Stantec and AGFA to startups, research institutes, government agencies and non-profits. It is also home to the Accelerator Centre, which supports new tech companies.

Neighbourhoods Near the R+T Park
Lakeshore: just north and east of the park, with a mix of detached homes, townhouses and condos, often at more moderate prices than the neighbourhoods to the west.
University area and Beechwood: to the south and west, from student housing close to campus to larger family homes in Beechwood.
Laurelwood and Columbia Forest: newer family neighbourhoods farther west, near Laurel Creek Conservation Area, with well-regarded schools.

Getting Around
ION’s Research and Technology station is right at the park, with trains to the University of Waterloo, Uptown Waterloo, Downtown Kitchener and Fairview Park Mall. More than five kilometres of walking and cycling trails run through the park, and Highway 85 is a short drive away.
Things to Do Nearby
The park’s trails connect to Columbia Lake and a large environmental reserve, and in summer tenants enjoy beach volleyball, disc golf and pop-up events. Laurel Creek Conservation Area, with its reservoir and forest trails, is a short drive west.
Conestoga Mall, the City of Waterloo Museum, the Earth Sciences Museum on the UW campus, Waterloo Park and the restaurants and shops of Uptown Waterloo are all close by.
